For outdoor structures in North America and Northern Europe, winter isn't just a seasont's a rigorous structural test. At Brealu, our Canadian projects demand a specialized engineering approach: the Arctic-Spec standard.

The BRE-E220 heavy-duty system is our response to extreme snow loads. It is engineered not just to hold weight, but to manage the dynamic pressure of wet, heavy snow and ice accumulation.

The Mechanics of Snow Pressure

Standard aluminum pergolas are often rated for 20-30kg/sqm—insufficient for a Montreal or Toronto blizzard where snow loads can easily exceed 85kg/sqm. Our BRE-E220 series utilizes a Multi-Ribbed Louver Design. Each internal rib acts as a bridge, distributing the vertical load across the entire span to prevent bending or failure, specifically meeting Quebec and Ontario structural safety codes.

Reinforced Structural Ribs

The secret to our snow resistance lies in the internal cross-section of our louvers. By adding secondary and tertiary support ribs inside the hollow aluminum profile, we increase the Moment of Inertia (I-value), providing the rigidity required for large 6-meter spans without mid-posts.

Combined with our double-layer insulated glass options, these systems provide a true "four-season" sanctuary that remains safe even under the heaviest Canadian winter blankets.
